Hotel Lifehacks

Another great tip for the hotel is to milk its location on the RER B line. Buy a multi-day “Navigo Découverte” pass (a little passport-sized photo is essential for this) that allows unlimited travel on RER, metro, and buses in all zones, from CDG airport and back to central Paris. This is your lifeline in the city and it will save you lots of dinero versus buying individual tickets.

Be sure that there may be noise accessible from the street or the train line so write and ask for a room in the back of the hotel (“sur la cour”). These rooms are supposed to be much quieter and will assure a very peaceful night’s sleep helping you make the most of the convenient location without the downside of urban noise.

Let’s use the hotel as a smart base for visiting out of central Paris. There’s the RER B line take you directly to Le Bourget, home to the excellent Musee de l’Air et de l’Espace. And further, by taking the RER E to Val de Fontenay (one stop from Gare du Nord), you switch easily for the RER A straight to Disneyland Paris – very clever and cheap base for a Disney trip.

Eat well, and save most of it for Paris — that is the international gourmet capital of the world. At night, you can have local, authentic, and much less expensive dining in Aulnay-sous-Bois like the neighborhood pizzeria or brasserie all within a short walk from the hotel.
